On Friday 24 June Y9 GCSE Music visited the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill to visit their gallery of musical instruments and take part in a Gamelan workshop.
A splendid afternoon for the Fun Run on Monday - the sun actually shone and the rain held back.
An exhibition of coursework assessment and final exam projects was set up for the exam board moderator recently. The work on display is extraordinarily creative with many hours of hard work put in by all the Art & Design students. It is amazing viewing the incredible artistry of the pieces on show from ceramics to paintings, plus the detailed sketchbooks of initial ideas through to the students’ chosen final project.
Dr Brickley, a keen horticulturist, organised a Horticultural Society competition last week where Year 7 tutor groups had to identify as many trees as possible that grow or overhang the Ashcroft Academy site.
Twenty four students, accompanied by staff, journeyed to Burford last Friday to begin a practice for their DoE Bronze award.
On Thursday, Year 12 Performing Arts students performed their devised Theatre in Education (TIE) to a young invited audience from St Michael’s Primary School.
The audience were asked to imagine four famous people in a balloon soaring up into the sky when it became clear the balloon was not capable of carrying four people, but only one. Which one should stay?
For their final performance the Year 13 Performing Arts (Drama) group highly amused their ‘fans’ with their comedy stage adaptation of John Buchan’s 1915 novel ‘The 39 steps’.
This was a really informative trip for KS3 students to appreciate design and engineering in the film industry.
In the Fantastic Food session with Miss Borg Year 7 "stemmies" learned how the chemistry of endothermic reactions can be applied to make our favourite dessert, ice-cream.
